Aako Inc

Overview

Aako Inc is a organization aiming to redefine social media by combining augmented reality (AR) with geo-spatial interaction using "echoes"—audio content tied to real-world locations. This creates a unique, immersive way for users to explore and interact with places and with each other. As the Lead Aako Web UX Designer, I designed a smooth user experience that reflects the brand's minimalist aesthetic while providing intuitive navigation across its key features.

My Role

UI/UX Designer - conceptualization, user research & analysis, lo-fi & hifi prototyping

Challenge

Gait assessment in clinics is often limited to visual observation and checklists, which lack consistency. To address this, KMI—backed by an NIH-funded Alzheimer’s and fall-prevention initiative—developed a motion-capture system that generates detailed gait metrics. Yet the system’s raw numerical outputs were too complex for clinicians to interpret quickly, reducing its effectiveness for diagnosing fall risk and muscle weakness.

Design

Waitlist

Designed to be clear and engaging, the waitlist page explained the benefits of early access with straightforward titles and intuitive buttons. After sign-up, a separate window highlighted user consent for newsletters, followed by a thank you page to inform users of the next steps.

Map Page

The map page featured a dynamic title and a 3D globe model to visualize the echoes' locations. The design emphasized geo-location links and included a template for users to create their own echoes, enhancing engagement. The initial version has a flatter UI/UX (Figma), while the later version consists of a 3D model effect and better transitions to emphasize Aako's immersive XR themes (After Effects).

Privacy Policy Page

A simple, user-friendly design included expandable sections to keep the layout uncluttered. Essential information like the last edit date and contact links was easily accessible, ensuring transparency and user trust.

About Us Page

Maintaining the clean, pink-themed design, the about us page provided concise information about Aako’s identity and mission. The layout was both simplistic and informative, helping users quickly understand what Aako stands for and does.
